Formation Modern Java and Spring Boot – Production Level

Design, test and deploy Spring Boot 3 and Java 21 applications to industry standards

This intensive 3-day training covers the complete stack a back-end Java developer faces today: Java 21, Spring Boot 3, JPA and Hibernate persistence, security with Spring Security, integration testing, hexagonal architecture, resilience, Kafka messaging, observability and Docker packaging. You work on OrderHub, a realistic red-thread application with 4 connected business features, multi-level testing and a complete Docker deployment.

Course objectives

Use modern Java language features introduced since version 17 (records, sealed classes, pattern matching with switch, virtual threads)
Design a REST API with Spring Boot 3 integrating Bean Validation and centralized error handling using ProblemDetail (RFC 7807)
Choose the appropriate test type (unit, slice test, full integration) and configure a Spring Boot application via profiles and environment variables
Map a data model with JPA and Hibernate avoiding classic pitfalls and fix N+1 issues with JOIN FETCH or @EntityGraph
Secure a REST API with Spring Security 6 and JWT Bearer authentication, including security tests
Set up a robust integration test chain using Testcontainers (PostgreSQL) and WireMock
Organize an application following hexagonal architecture principles and apply SOLID daily
Implement HTTP call resilience (circuit breaker, retry) with Resilience4j and design idempotent endpoints
Publish and consume events on Apache Kafka with Dead Letter Topics handling
Expose Prometheus metrics via Micrometer and package the application with a multi-stage Dockerfile ready for Kubernetes

Detailed program (13 modules)

Records and value objects, sealed classes, pattern matching with switch, var and type inference, stream programming, virtual threads for concurrency.

  • Tech leads and software architects
  • Developers transitioning to Java (1 to 2 years in another language)
  • DevOps or SRE engineers working on Spring Boot applications

Prerequisites

  • Practical knowledge of Java: classes, inheritance, interfaces, collections, exceptions, lambdas
  • First experience with a Java framework (Spring, Jakarta EE or equivalent), at least one small complete application built
  • Knowledge of HTTP protocols and JSON format
  • Basic notions of relational databases and SQL (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, JOIN)
  • JDK 21 LTS, Maven 3.9+, Docker Engine 24+, IntelliJ IDEA recommended
